Centos 5.3 install won't recognize hard drive

Hello,

I am trying to install Centos 5.3. When I go through the installation and it comes to the section asking about partitions, no hdd show up. XP recognized the drive so I know the drive isn't dead. I looked at the bios and the hdd shows up as well as the optical, but the setup just doesn't read it. Any ideas?

What is the controller that the HDD is attached? It is possible that the installer kernel does not have native support for the controller. Try the manufacturer's site for a RHEL/Fedora/CentOS driver-disk...

ended up having to put in an old IDE controller and downgrading from SATA to all IDE. Turns out it was a hardware issue (bad controller on the mobo).
