Centos 5.3 install won't recognize hard drive
Hello,
I am trying to install Centos 5.3. When I go through the installation and it comes to the section asking about partitions, no hdd show up. XP recognized the drive so I know the drive isn't dead. I looked at the bios and the hdd shows up as well as the optical, but the setup just doesn't read it. Any ideas? |
What is the controller that the HDD is attached? It is possible that the installer kernel does not have native support for the controller. Try the manufacturer's site for a RHEL/Fedora/CentOS driver-disk...

i'll have to give that a shot, thanks!

ended up having to put in an old IDE controller and downgrading from SATA to all IDE. Turns out it was a hardware issue (bad controller on the mobo).
