CentOS 5.0 free VMWare Server Sound Question

I've got the free VMWare Server running under CentOS 5.0 on an AMD64 3800+ dual core system with 4 GB of RAM on an Asus MB. VMWare Tools is installed.

The only thing not working is the sound. The sound drivers are on a CD which installed without problem earlier on the WIN2000 side of the dual boot. Now, it says that it can't start a .dll that I've verified is on the CD. I've tried copying the CD into a drive within the guest OS but still get the same message.

The graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce 6150. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Errr......... you do know that VMWare uses a virtual sound device(a creative es1371/3 if i remember correctly) not the native hardware device. Check your VMWare hardware options and make sure of the Sound Adapter settings.

I didn't. Thanks for the pointer.

So it sounds like I just go into the guestOS (Win2000) and set it up as a Creative es1371/3?

My VMWAre frontend offers options for adjusting the networking, RAM allotted, HD, and mouse and that's it.

Thanks for the help.
