Centericq foreign characters messed up
For some reason when someone sends me messages via the MSN Messenger protocol, they appear funny.
Each of the following pairs are what appears instead of a SINGLE accented character. ç = (i forget, but it was some character) é = é â = â û = û ô = ô î = î ê = ê Ã_ = à è = è ù = ù ì = ì ò = ò I noticed that in one of the menus it says: Codepages conversion: Remote charset: cp1250 Local charset: iso-8859-1 I think the trouble is in these lines, but I don`t know what it should be. Someone please help me with this. Secondly, instead of having a nice box around my screen all I see is â. Any thoughts on what might be causing this? THanks, David |
Appears that the trouble with the border and such were caused by the term variable.
I did export TERM=xterm screen export TERM=screen centericq and that is cleared up, now it is just a matter of getting those darned accents to work. Thanks, David |
I found a way to get it to work.
I went into /etc/sysconfig/language and set RC_LANG="ft_FR.UTF-8" Remote charset: utf-8 Local charset: iso-8859-1 That seens to make it work. I am running SuSe 9.2, hope this helps someone else. David |
