I am unable to start rpcbind when IPv6 is disabled under CentOS 7.3. Works fine under previous versions with just IPv4.

Dec 29 09:48:38 test-lt systemd: rpcbind.socket failed to listen on
sockets: Address family not supported by protocol
Dec 29 09:48:38 test-lt systemd: Job rpcbind.service/start failed with
result 'dependency'.
Dec 29 09:48:38 test-lt systemd: Unit rpcbind.socket entered failed state.

Anyone have experience with getting this scenario to work?

Thank you for your insight.

How have you disabled ipv6 specifically in 7.3?

Disabling IPV6 was indeed the problem. Thank you for your reply.

In CentOS 7 it appears you cannot successfully disable IPv6 via sysctl; the INET6 AF is still leaking somehow and applications will attempt to use it. The correct way to disable IPv6 and avoid this issue with rpcbind is the following:

edit /etc/default/grub

add ipv6.disable=1 to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX

sudo /usr/sbin/grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
