Cedega/Steam/HELP!
Hey,
I am kind of new at linux, but not really handicapped with computers so i can understand alot, i just need assistance, i have downloaded Cedega (as a setup file??) and installed, it goes through and says successful, it says its creating a path home/.wine/fake_windows (or something like that, im not looking at it right now). But when i check there is no path there. Also i downloaded SteamInstall.exe, i type cedega SteamInstall.exe it doesnt give me an error but it doesnt do anything. Very confused, i gave up on trying to figure it out myself. I need some help. Thanks! |
In case you may not have known this is the syntax to view hidden files on the command line:
ls -a .wine and anything after represents a hidden file. Also check out this howto (that is if you have not already) for installing Steam and a few others. http://www.linux-gamers.net/modules/...p?articleid=17 peace V |
sorry dumb question but where do i use Is -a? is there a CMD prompt type thing?
|
Nevermind i figured that out, almost got it i think
I hope |
Alright.
I have wine installed. i try to install steam with it and i get : [Dylan@localhost .wine]$ cd /home/Dylan/.wine/fake_windows [Dylan@localhost fake_windows]$ wine SteamInstall.exe wine: chdir to /home/Dylan/.wine/wineserver-localhost.localdomain : No such file or directory [Dylan@localhost fake_windows]$ |
Is the cedega you have the CVS version or did you pay for a subscription? I ask this because if you paid for a subscription the use of Point2play makes the installation of Steam and many others way easy. If your using the CVS version you can click on this link http://www.mithunc.net/grapevine/ for a free graphical frontend (like point2play) to make installing easy. And one more link http://www.liflg.org/ this is where you can get loki installers for many games instead of trying to do it manually on the command line.
