CDRom and cd/dvd burner can't read on Mandrake 10????

Hi! I've recently installed Mandrake 10 and I'm 'ving problem with Sony CD-rom drive and also dvd/cd burner(LG). These two devices seem like not to be able to read any cds or dvds from previous Operating System like Windows or even Mandrake 9.2. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I tried mounting them but it says they are already mounted and also i can view files easily if i use Mandrake 10's K3d. Moreover, these two devices does work fine when Mandrake 9.2 is installed on my system. Does anyone what is wrong with it?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi there!!

I've LG cd burner and i also have that problem .. it seems like a incompatibility between the kernel supplyed with mdk10 and the drive's firmware ...
During the installation of the SO it messes up the firmware of the drive and it stops from buring but reads fine (im my case)

More detailled info here
http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/lgerrata.php3

What I've done was to update/upload the firmware to the driver again (before that i've made a regression for mdk9.1 )
I've googled for the firmware to my model, downloaded it and updated it (altough that have to be done booting from a windows floppy disk and then running the proggy )

Your firmware may be there
http://www.lgeus.com/Product/cd/cdrom_main.asp

Hope that helps.
