cdrecord -scanbus

Found issue: one server is IDE not SCSI.

This worked: cdrecord -scanbus dev=ATAPI:0,0

I have purchased 3 new HP rack mount servers. I set up the first to with CDRECORD with no problems at all. I'm setting up the third as a mail server but am having issues with cdrecord.

If I do a 'cdrecord -scanbus' I get this:

cdrecord: Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'.
cdrecord: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord dev=help'.

If I do it on one of the other servers I get this:

scsibus4:
4,0,0 400) 'TEAC ' 'DV-W28E-RW ' 'G.B2' Removable CD-ROM
4,1,0 401) *
4,2,0 402) *
4,3,0 403) *
4,4,0 404) *
4,5,0 405) *
4,6,0 406) *
4,7,0 407) *
[root@ldap ~]#

I know the drive is working because if I do a 'eject' it works.
I've reinstalled cdrecord with no luck.
I've updated all packages with no luck.
I'm using CentOS 5.3

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ben

As root do "chmod u+s /usr/bin/cdrecord".Then try "cdrecord --scanbus" again.
