cdrecord not recording

When I try to record an iso with cdrecord it gives me this:

heres the command-

# cdrecord dev=/dev/cdrom speed=40 -eject /home/cyrax/install-x86-minimal-2004.3-r1.iso

and heres what happens-

scsidev: '/dev/cdrom'
devname: '/dev/cdrom'
scsibus: -2 target: -2 lun: -2
cdrecord: Read-only file system. Cannot open '/dev/cdrom'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.

iv tried other isos and the same thing happens, and the drive works fine in windoze. any ideas?

Hi.
Why don't you try the scanbus the message is talking about.
Then you can try:

cdrecord dev=ATAPI:[bus number]
