After wasting about 5 CD-Rs to burn a BIN image (with cue sheet) with cdrdao (via the shell) I'm writing to the forums.
Here's what I'm getting:
Code:
erik@gumby:~/data$ sudo cdrdao write image.cue
Cdrdao version 1.2.1 - (C) Andreas Mueller <andreas@daneb.de>
SCSI interface library - (C) Joerg Schilling
Paranoia DAE library - (C) Monty
Check http://cdrdao.sourceforge.net/drives.html#dt for current driver tables.
Using libscg version 'ubuntu-0.8ubuntu1'
/dev/cdrw: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532U Rev: GA03
Using driver: Generic SCSI-3/MMC - Version 2.0 (options 0x0000)
Starting write at speed 4...
Pausing 10 seconds - hit CTRL-C to abort.
Process can be aborted with QUIT signal (usually CTRL-\).
Turning BURN-Proof on
Executing power calibration...
Power calibration successful.
Writing track 01 (mode MODE2_RAW/MODE2_RAW )...
Writing track 02 (mode MODE2_RAW/MODE2_RAW )...
ERROR: Read error while reading data from file "/home/erik/data/image.bin": Input/output error

I think the error is pointing to the INPUT file (reader) rather than the output device (CDRW). Perhaps there is a checksum error or other corruption on the input file?
...I thought that was the problem too, but I'm leaning towards bad BIN images... CRC failure could be responsible..but I've tried others, it burns up until about 75%..then fails. I will look into this some more. I hope my burner isn't dead. Thanks for your quick reply Alan!
I think a test might be in order. Download a different iso, make sure you compare the checksum listed with the one you downloaded: generally large download sites list the md5 sum for the file. md5sum the iso and make sure it matches the listed md5 sum. Good luck. I must admit, I've had bad luck with burner reliability. I've also noticed some blank discs are more problematic than others.
thanks Alan.. I'll look into it when I get home... The problem has recently started.. who knows.. but I appreciate your quick responses and will let you know of any new developments and updates.
