cdrdao buffer underrun HELP!

Okay, I've been playing around trying to figure this out. I installed K3B and had 3 unsuccessful burn and decided to check cdrdao. I'm new to linux with Slackware 10.2 installed so cdrdao 1.1.9. Since i was having problems and my error was mentionning cdrdao buffer underrun I removed it and installed cdrdao 1.2.1 with worst results ; it just wasnt working anymore! I then removed cdrdao 1.2.1 and went back with 1.1.9 and now i can burn a cd but only at 4x, anything above that speed gives me buffer underruns issues. My writer is a Pioneer 110, my kernel is 2.6.14.3 and I think I read there could be issues with that kernel and cdrdao or cdrecord, anyhow, I really need the help. I think it's worth mentionning I did my testing as root to make sure I was not dealing with privileges issues.

Have you enabled bufferunderrun protection?
If yes, you should check for system activity (file access).

Yes I have enabled bufferunderrun, as for system activity I'm not too sure I know what you mean. I have checked the memory usage of my system and it's up to 830 megs and I have 1024 or ram in my system, It's quite a huge number and I don't know what process I could kill yet as I just started with linux. Could you give me an example of the total memory usage should be? And the file access part, how can i check that?
