cdda and extigy sound card in notebook

I have notebook with dvd and I plug extigy sound card ( oss driver) on Red Hat 9.

Is it possible to hearing audio cds from notebook's dvd through extigy sound card ?. I hear only sound from films (AC-3 (5.1)) not from cd audio.
I have ac97 built in sound card and system sounds is configured in kde by dsp3 device and mixer3 device. I have ac97 and extigy in kmix, but cdda I hear only from ac97 (on board) by xmms(plugins: cd- audio player - oss audio ).
Richad Cochran said (about oss extigy driver):"Audio play/recording: This seems to work fine and has not been changed from the original audio driver. The device will record stereo at 48, 32, 24, 16, or 8 KHz. The device only plays at 48 KHz. (It appears that the 44.1 and 22.05 KHz modes are only for CMSS mode). So, to play 44.1 KHz audio files, the player program must be able to do rate conversion (sox can do this, and so can xmms). "

In xmms I found rate conversion possibility in options but not from cd audio player only from sound files.

Help me, please

Paul
