cd record append="hdd=ide-scsi" ?

i got my cdrecord to work using this line

cdrecord dev=ATAPI:0,0,0 name_of_file

when I was reading on using it, I was told to place this line in my lilo.conf, append="hdd=ide-scsi"

IS an ATAPI an ide cdburner?

how do I find out what ide device it is, hdb, hdc ,hdd?

It worked with out adding append="hdd=ide-scsi" to lilo.conf, does that mean it is not an ide device?

It means you have a newer kernel that doesn't require that parameter.

Older kernels used scsi emulation.

if I have the module "ide-scsi" loaded, does that mean I am using emulation?

not neccesarily, you'd still have to append "hdd=ide-scsi" to lilo.conf..

you'd know if you were using scsi emulation if you can mount your CDROM by going:

mount /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom
mount /dev/scd1 /mnt/cdrom

depending on the ide channel.
