cd playing doubts!

I'm having some problems with libcdaudio and cdcd, libcdaudio is the default interface for cdcd for playing cds, ok, cdcd can read my cd normally, show all the tracks (and their lengths), and play them, but without sound! It looks to be playing normally the track (I can see it with the "info" command) but sound doesn't go out, my friend got these programs and played his cds normally! He uses the same kernel version, and the same distro I use (slackware 9.0), I think my sound doesn't work because once my pc was shuted down by force (pushing the button), what sound daemon does libcdaudio uses to play sound? or it doesn't use one? if it uses or not, how can I resolve my problem? please help me!
