CD on system is showing The Drive appears confused.

This is my first posting so please excuse me if there are any errors.

I just upgraded several machines from Fedora core 2 to Fedora core 4. On several of the systems the CD does not work.

In /var/log/messages I get:
kernel: hdc: lost interrupt
kernel: cdrom_pc_intr: The drive appears confused (ireason = 0x01)

Looking at fstab the cd is not defined.

I did a lshal |grep cd and the device appeares to be defined in HAL.

I would try a fstab-sync but am unable to determine the UDI for the device.

Any advice or help would be appreciated.
