CD/DVD burning software

What is *the* program to use for CD/DVD burning in Linux, then? Whats the most popular? What do you all prefer? Would like something that can create a virtual CDROM from images, like I can in CDRWIN on XP.

I don't know about dvd burning in linux but for cd-r burning, one of the most popular is 'cdrecord'.
