CD boot wants Reiser FS?
 

I deleted my windows partition and made it twom the re-instaleld windows XP, it seemed to have killed my lilo, when I try to reconfigure using the cd, it says the sytem is already configured. I tried to boot to my installation with the bare.i and the paramaters listed on the slack 9 CD. It gets so far then says something about Reiser FS not being found and kernel panic, then the boot hangs. Any suggestions on getting back to my install?

if you havent deleted your Linux partition yet, it should be able to boot into it using the cd typing something like "linux root=/dev/hd** ro" (if XP haven't erased it during the install)
However this error msg isn't really about ReiserFS... Reiser is the last fs tested when Linux try to find his root partition. So there might be a problem about your root filesystem. Giving us the complete error msg will help.

First be sure you're using the correct device (aka : /dev/hd**)

Upon attempting to boot with "bare.i root=/dev/hda2 noinitrd ro" it errors with:

FAT: bogus logical sector sitze 0
FAT:bogus logical sector size 0
read_super_block:can't find a reiserfs filesystem on (dev 03:30, block 64, size 1024)
read_super_block:can't find a reiserfs filesystem on (dev 03:30, block 64, size 1024)
kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:02

I am quite sure my install in on hda2. I also re-installed lilo attmempting to make it boot and got the same error. Also tried making a second install and booting tha tto at least get some data off of this partition and can't get anything. Looks like it's back from scratch.:(

EDIT:fsck -f seems to have gone through on hda2...presently seeing if that helps, hopefully I don't lost power in this storm...

I got into the old install, then it locked up...going to try to get in with the normal kernel to see if it helps, since I did a recompile before, maybe that is a problem? My X config is the ATI one that isn't really fully supported.

MADE IT WORK!!!!! I am back playing q3 now:):):):)
