Capture 'make' Output to File

Is it possible to copy the output of 'make' for a large project to a file in Linux?

outspoken 05-21-2005 10:39 PM

yes, it is. ;)

Code:

make > filename

It doesn't seem to work when make gets an error. Am I not able to capture error messages?

Sure you can.

make > filename 2>&1

Or you can split the output into separate files:

make > outfile 2>errfile

but you'll have a hard job figuring where the error occurred!
