Cant play any 3D games for Kids in LinuxMint Gloria

Hi,

My linux box has the following configuration

Intel Dual Core 2.5 GHz, 2 GB DDR2, 500GB HDD, Zotac nVidia610 Chipset Board, XFX 7300GS 256MB PCI Express Card, 19" LG 1942WS Monitor.

I am running LinuxMint 7 Gloria (Ubuntu 9.04), fully updated and using recommended nvidia proprietary driver version 180. Compiz works fine.

My children are fond of Tuxrace, Planet Penguin Racer and childsplay. How ever each time any of these games are run the screen goes blank displaying an 'out of sync' message and I need to do a 'ctrl+alt+backspace'.

On an intel 945 Chipset Board with the same monitor I can run all the above said games.

Can any tweak in the xorg.conf solve this issue?

Thank you.

Go into nvidia-settings and adjust your screen refresh rate to something else. If it fail, then launch those games from a terminal with the option to display them in a windows instead of full screen. Most games have this option.

Thanks Elv13 they all run in terminals. Many of the games default to 800x600 in full screen mode which is not supported on my monitor (should be at least 1024x768). Thanks again.
