Try to boot from a live cd or use the rescue option from the ubuntu CD
Then edit
Quote:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
or
Quote:
/etc/X11/XF86Config
To change the layout of the keyboard

You need the ubuntu cd, or download another live cd, like puppy
http://puppylinux.org/main/index.php...%20Release.htm
Then boot from te cd, go to the drive where ubuntu is installed and edit the files.

FYI, the latest version from ubuntu is allready at 9.10

Is ssh enabled? You can try to remote login to the system and edit the files mentioned above. Will save your time..
