Regarding the screen solution i have a 1680x1050 screen and i kind of like this high resolution ...but if lowering this could solve my problem i would be one step closer to a solution.

Does your suggestion imply that you agree with elliott678 in that the freezing problem could be duo to my nvidia drivers?

I have just monitored the system as i froze.

I used gkrellm to do the monitoring.

when it froze gkrellm where showing the following

CPU0 : 4 %
CPU : 100%

coretemt0: 75 degrees celcius
coretemp1: 80 degrees celcius
nvidia GPU core : 70 degrees celcius

After it froze i could see that the CPU keept going at a 100%

Does this suggest overheating??

I'm not familiar with the new chips, but that seems pretty hot to me. If the fan is working right, that shouldn't happen. What exactly was running when the CPU usage was at 100%?
