cant get redhat disc to boot

I have just downloaded rh 9. I burned iso1 to cd and I dont mean I just burned the iso. I have done this before and it went just great why not now I dont know. I checked to make sure the system was set to boot from the cdrom. I still couldnt get it to boot so I created a boot disk.

The boot disk worked, well partially when I selected the installation method I chose local cdrom.

But I get the red hat linux cd was not found in your cdrom drive.

I am using nero. If anyone has had a similar problem or has any ideas.

Thanks, Robert

Does the CD boot in any other machines?

Did you check the mD5sum on the iso? Maybe it's corrupted..
I use the devil (ezcd5) to burn my isos until I figure out how to do it in Linux..

I tried the disk on my machine and it booted great! Yay!!!

I also ran the media check and it failed :(

I am going to redownload the disc one iso and give it another try on the one machine that it couldnt see the disk. Although I dont think it is going to be able to see the disc/cdrom drive. Im guessing that the cdrom drive that I have in there is pretty ancient but im not sure. I am probably going to stick in a newer looking cdrom drive from the spare parts pile.

Thank you very much, Robert

The old drive will work with the boot floppy - It just failed to find valid media.

To save disks - before you burn, run an md5sum check:

I will have to give that a try. I guess ive just been to lazy to mess with that because it only take a few minutes to burn. The disc I have are cdrw so I can write and erase them a few times without worry.

Thanks again, Robert :)

Personnaly I don't like CDRWs - especially as CDRs are so cheap now - they are much better quality and less prone to errors.
