Question Cant get GUI to Start


I have installed Impi. It doesnt want to load the GUI. When I run "startx" it gives a error about the Nvidia Kernel driver versions. Please help still learning linux.

Did you download the nvidia driver form their website? If so, make sure the module is actually loaded. You should have "nvidia" listed when you run 'lsmod'. If it is not loaded, update the device driver in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and change the listed driver to "nvidia". You can also run 'modprobe nvidia'. You will know if nvidia driver is working because there will be a splash screen when you 'startx'
