can't find KWrite with Synaptic

I went to Synaptic to reinstall KWrite (I had uninstalled it, but I've already forgotten why), but Synaptic doesn't list it. I have six different repositories--five of them Debian and one of them MEPIS (my distro). Has KWrite become unavailable for some reason? I guess I'll use another editor.

isn't that kate ?

Kate is a multi document editor, based on a rewritten version of the kwrite
editing widget of KDE.

Try to install kate, maybe they're packaged together, since they really use the same backends.

Well, buy me a Cadillac and call me Elvis. That was the answer. I wasn't interested in using Kate (which comes with MEPIS), so I had uninstalled it. Well, too bad I have to have it to have KWrite. Anyway, thank you.
