cant find gtk-config file or gtk-devel to install

Hi there, im a newbie to all this so i apologise in advance for my ignorance.

Im trying to install a couple of educational games. Both of them cannot find gtk-config when i run ./configure.

ive searched for the file to no avail.

Ive read some other posts about how sometimes gtk-devel, the required rpm to get the gtk-config file, isnt installed on some distros. Ive checked and i dont have this rpm installed. Ive searched my cds and rpmfind for gtk-devel to no avail for the mandrake distro. I have found it for SuSE but dont know if i can use that.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I have GTK+ 2.4.9 installed.

THanks

gtk-config would come from gtk-1.2.x not 2.x.x (you can have both installed at the same time with no conflicts). So..look for gtk-1.2.x-devel-ixxx-mdk in urpmi or rpmdrake

cheers for that. I think i've found it. I've read somewhere else that for mandrake i need to look for lib.... for a particular program. Ive found libgtk-1.2.9-devel... . I assume thats the one. I dont know for sure yet because when i went to install it there were heaps of dependenies that i needed to download and my download was interupted before they were finished and now my computer is trying to install all of these incomplete files with bad signatures. Now my task is to figure out how to remove all of these files so that my computer looks for them on the net again and re-download. I love the idea and philosophy behind linux and Opensource, however, I'm finding the learning curve a bit steep.
