Cannot use Cd-RW after first burn

I installed an external USB Mad Dog 52x24x52 CD-Rw in Red Hat 8.0 and have used both the cdrecord -v -eject speed=4 dev=0,0,0 filename.iso command to brun a backup CD. I have also successfully used the blank=fast and blank=all options successfully. HOWEVER - when I try to rewrite on the 4x RW CD from both the command line and X-CD-Roast, Iget and OPC error, which reads at the end:

Sense flags: Blk 0 (not valid)
cmd finished after 0.043s timeout 60s
cdrecord:Resource temporarily unavailable. OPC failed
cdrecord fifo had 64 puts and 0 gets
cdrecord:fifo was 0 times empty and 0 times full, min fill was 100%

Do I have a hardware issue or a media incompatability? Why will it not reuse a rewriteable?

I have no problem with that tif moderators would also repremand self proclaimed gurus who will reply to a serious question with "Sounds like you have a problem there!" and then sprout off their self grandizing anti-war views and self congradulations. This has previously happened to me causing the post to get plain old buried unaswered!
