when I try to run gaim I get this feedback..

gaim: symbol lookup error: /opt/gnome/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: gdk_screen_set_resolution_libgtk_only

also for firefox i get this

can anyone tell me what is going on here? It was working just fine until now, and I don't remember making any specific changes.

Do you have the GTK libraries installed?

i think i do... well i must have if i was just using these programs earlier this day

Have you installed any new software today?

not that i can remember
is there anything that i can reinstall that may fix this?
