Cannot Play back DVD on PC recorded from a DVD recorder

Hi

My brother recorded from my digital DV tape to a DVD using a DVD recorder some footage.
He finalised the DVD on his DVD recorder and showed me the footage on his Window$ computer from his DVD player.

When I took it home and tried to do the same on my DVD ROM on my Linux machine, it does not play. XINE says something like you do not have the appropriate permissions.

I changed the /dev/dvd link to 777 as well as /dev/hdb.

I tried another movie DVD (hollywood one) and it works perfectly in XINE. But I cannot see anything on this DVD that was recorded from a dvd recorder (but it works on windows??)

I cannot even view the files on the DVD.

Any ides?

Shelton.

Ask your brother exactly how he burned this DVD, maybe since you mentined Windows the format of the DVD is not supported(udf, ntfs or ???).

OK - found out what the problem was- my brother burned 2 different dvds and the one I tried to play back was the other one that he did not play back on his PC. So yes one of them is stuffed. Dont know how but it became stuffed and cannot be played back on any DVD.
