Hi
I just tried to install redhat 9.0, all the 3 disks check out correct(redhat 's integiry check passed them), however when i put the 3rd disk in to complete the installation it says the file is corrupted.
i tried the basic setup and a custom setup involving all the files.
i am currently downloading redhat disk 3 (shrike) again,(thought the previous downloaod was reported to be ok). i tried it once, but the dowloaded froze midway.
also make sure when you burn the ISO that you do it at 8x or slower. this often times helps for OS ISOs i have noticed. always better safe then sorry i say.
i donwloaded once, burnt three times, last time at 8X, no luck, i try to download using isolinux.org but the download ceases midway, you guys got another link where i can get it from?
shrike is the version of redhat.
redhat are stopping their free version of rh9 soon but they are replacing it with fedora
u can check out this link which will give u downloads for all rh9 x 3 disks and u can also check out fedora from this site :-) http://www.linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=7
RPM is simply a package manager
I just downloaded redhat 9 from linuxiso.org with no problems. I assume you are on some form of broadband (DSL or Cable Modem). If you are using dial-up internet access trying to download a file that big.......no wonder it disconnects.
Package Managers are simply programs that are used to decompress and install programs on Linux machines. Kind of like "Installation Wizards" on windows machines. Except with Linux it's more manual than automatic.
