cannot get program to work using WINE

I am using SuSE 8.2 and am trying to get a program called renWeb to work under WINE. The program was created by a Prof. at my school for Windows. It was created using C++, so there should be some way to get it to work under WINE. I can get it to install and it gets to a screen where it has to connect to a server on a specific IP address. When it tries to connect I get a message "Unable to connect to Internet" I am able to surf the web so I know that I can connect, but with this program it just doesn't work. I admit that I am a beginner with Linux and would appreciate any help.

If you would like to try and help, contact me and I will send you the 4.8Mb zip file and let you try.

Thanks
