Cannot get a signal with xawtv or tvtime
I am running Fedora 10. I've installed xawtv 3.95 as well as tvtime 1.02.2 through the Add/Remove Software.
Unfortunately I have no idea what the brand of my tuner is. I bought it on the internet about 5 years ago, and the box didn't have a brand name. The instructions were also written in very poor english, however the win driver was called easytv. I do know its BT878.
$ modprobe bttv
$dmesg

For Xawtv:
$ xawtv device -dev/video0
This is xawtv-3.95, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.27.9-159.fc10.i686)
xinerama 0: 1440x900+0+0
This launches the xawtv app, but all I get is a black and white static screen and no sound.
I've changed my settings to:
NTSC, Television, us-cable, and stereo sound
For tvtime:
$ tvtime
Running tvtime 1.0.2.
Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml
Reading configuration from /home/Steve/.tvtime/tvtime.xml
The tvtime app launches fine. When I scan the channels I only get two, and they picture is good but there is no sound. However the tv thats running off the same cable gets approximately 65 channels and I can't figure out why its only picking up those too.
Can anyone help out with this?
