The original Suse 11.4 'gcc33-3.3.3-27.4.i586' :
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-suse-linux/3.3.3-hammer/ -> /lib/

? "/lib/" is supposed to be installed by default ?
→ → libgcc45-4.5.1_20101208-9.8.i586

→ # zypper in libgcc45

Don't know where you got the "gcc version 3.3.5".
Please check that the link -> /lib/ is present
in : /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-suse-linux/3.3.5/

You are going to have a very hard time installing anything on 11.4
it is way past it's End Of Life
It went EOL on "November 5th 2012"

the zypper repos are starting to be deleted and stopped being updated on November 5th 2012.

Opensuse is ONLY supporting 12.1 and 12.2

that 3.3.5 is not from ODB
3.3.3 is

also HOW did you install the ancient f77 ?
is what is in the old 11.4 install
and that installs "g77-33" is used for the 1977 ( yes the 1970's) FORTRAN the current used is "gfortran" ( i have it on opensuse12.2 )

one friend learned FORTRAN way back then and that is what he is used to using
