Cannot execute GUI applications using 'ssh -Y user@remotehost'

2015-03-27

I can execute GUI applications on a remote Ubuntu 12.04 computer from a Linux Mint 17.1 client by using the 'ssh -Y user@remotehost' command. However, when I try to do the same from the Ubuntu computer as client to the Linux Mint remotely, I get the following errors.

X11 connection rejected because of wrong authentication.
Error: cannot open display: localhost:10.0.

I would like to point out that I don't encounter ssh errors if I refrain from invoking GUI applications.

Any help from this forum will be much appreciated.

Has X11Forwarding been enabled on the Linux Mint computer? Check the contents of /etc/ssh/sshd_config.

Hi, allend and replica9000,

F11Forwarding has been enabled in /etc/ssh/sshd_config on my Linux Mint computer. Running 'ssh -XY user@remotehost' did not help ssh in executing a GUI program.

Thanks to your inspiration which led me to using meld to compare the two config files. I am attaching a screen image of meld's output. I hope you can find some meaningful information in it.

Many thanks again.
