"cannot execute binary file" when install j2sdk

I downloaded j2sdk-1_4_2_08-linux-i586.bin and did

1. chmod +x j2sdk-1_4_2_08-linux-i586.bin
2. ./j2sdk-1_4_2_08-linux-i586.bin

I got this:

Extracting...
./j2sdk-1_4_2_08-linux-i586.bin: line 395: ./install.sfx.25738: cannot execute binary file
Done.

Any ideas? Thanks.

have you issued

su

to be superuser????

I tried to use su to do step 1 and 2 (chmod and run the bin file).
I get the same error.

The program complains about an instruction at line 395... maybe you should get the i486 vesion of jdk or an appropriate one for your platform/cpu
