cannot enter full screen mode in vmware

hi all,

I have a dell latititude d800 with a NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 graphical card. It runs Slackware 10.0 on a 2.6.9 kernel and Xorg Release 6.7 using the binary Nvidia driver 1.0.6629.

I use VMware Workstation 4.0.5 which has a Windows XP Pro installed as guest OS. When I enter into full screen mode I get:

Unable to turn on direct graphics
Failed to switch to full screen SVGA mode.

I found loads of threads discussing this problem and all of them seem to be solved by changing the xorg.conf file to this

SubSection "extmod"
# Option "omit xfree86-dga" # don't initialise the DGA extension
EndSubSection
load "extmod"

In my case the problem remains exactly the same. I can see in the log files that XFree86-DGA is getting loaded so what more can I do?

Can somebody give me some advice on howto get this fullscreen working?

thank you for your help,
