Cannot drag and drop email between folders in Evolution

I have what seems to me like a stupid problem... but I cannot figure out for the life of me how to fix it. I have been a hard-core KDE fan until the release of KDE4, which after several months of struggling with I abandoned in favor of giving GNOME a try. I installed Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex and I am using evolution with my IMAP google g-mail account, but I cannot grab a message and drag it into a folder on the left hand side in the folder list. I can right click on the message, select move to and pick a folder and it works fine. But when I try to drag it, the message drags, the plus sign appears, and when I let go the message flies back to the original folder. I can drag it onto the desktop though. I checked permissions on the .evolution folder and they look fine. What am I missing?

Well, I traced the problem back to alltray. Seems to work fine when evolution is not started with alltray. Could be that alltray doesn't seem to play nice with compiz. Not sure what a fix for this would be.

That sounds more like a cop out than a fix. But I agree, eye candy should never trump functionality... otherwise I would just use Vista... and it's not even that pretty.
