cannot burn dvd in k3b

alright I'm trying to burn a dvd image on k3b. I used to be able to do that. I used to use nautilus on ubuntu. I installed k3b couple days ago but didnt try out then. Yesterday I installed dvdsrhink on wine. So those are the only two programs that could be affiliated with this problem. Anyways on k3b config i have these files:

cdrdao (2 one in /usr/bin/ and /usr/bin/x11/
cdrecord (2 one in /usr/bin and /usr/bin/x11/

Do i need anything else. All of thse files are owned by root. I tried changing them to admin but that didnt work. My friend told me maybe dvddao or something I don't remember. Do I need anything else?

I've only used k3b on SuSE but I guess this may help:

In a terminal log in as root
su
password:

unmount the optical drive
umount /drive

log out root
exit

open k3b and burn cds/dvds

hmm, well I tried a dvdrw and it worked. Thats wierd, my dvd burner cannot burn dvd+r, one thing i did see in a dvd+rw is that it formatted it first in k3b. Is it possible to manually format the dvd+r?
