Cannot boot to Ubuntu 14.04.3 [alloc magic is broken / kernel panic]
So this has been slowly been developing on my system. At first it would show me a GRUB error message that says
Quote:
Attempt to read or write outside disk 'hd0'
alloc magic is broken at 0xdf54cb70:0
But after a few attempts of rebooting my computer, it would fix itself.
Lately, I've been getting this more frequently and with kernel panics to the point that I cannot boot anymore. Whenever I don't see the "magic alloc" error or a kernel panic, it shows me the GRUB (bootloader?) and I select my OS but it recurses back to the BIOS. This keeps on continuing until I do a full shutdown.
This is what I've written down from the output from screen from the panic.
Do you mean 'hwinfo' or just write down what I have? I'll post 'lspci -v' info meanwhile.
The most recent changes to my hardware was removing a hard disk which contained Windows 7 and adding a new PSU because it was slightly underpowered that resulted in graphical artifacts on my screen. I did a memtest and found no issue.
The hardware:
intel i3-2100 3.10ghz (Almost two years)
MSI MS-7788/H61M-P31 (Almost two years)
Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 (Almost two years)
AMD Radeon R7 260x (Less than one year)
Here's the hw log:

Reason: Adding more info on hardware
I've tried 'grub-install' from a live USB. It told me it installed successfully but no solution so far. It did however give me a new error in GRUB. It still does its thing like before but it gave me a new error now.

If someone can make sense of this, please reply. I'm going to keep searching for an answer.
So after moving and untangling the SATA cables into different ports, I booted up the machine and had no trouble getting it to boot to Ubuntu. No errors or nothing. I guess that it might be a hardware error due to a SATA cable not being properly plugged but I'll mark as solved if nothing happens in a week.
