Cannot access windows file system from Debian anymore

I cannot access my Windows file system from Debian anymore.

After typing the password I get:
Unable to mount SYSTEM
Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 21: ERROR: could not insert 'fuse': Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
fuse: device not found, try 'modprobe fuse' first

modprobe fuse returns: # modprobe fuse
ERROR: could not insert 'fuse': Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

dmesg returns a lot of information, with at the end: fuse: Unknown symbol nosteal_pipe_buf_ops (err 0)

When I google this error there are websites telling me to upgrade, but I did that and still cannot access Windows. It used to work fine, the problem seems to have started after a recent upgrade.

Linux debian 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.54-2 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Dual booted Debian Wheezy with LVM and Windows 8.1

Any ideas?

Why is fuse being used?

Shouldn't it be mounted with either ntfs or ntfs-3g?

No idea why. I just know that it does. Even if I try mount -t ntfs /dev/sda1 /mnt it complains about fuse.
