Angry Cannot access LP port to print

Recently I installed RedHat 5.2 and soon afterwards I upgraded to 6.2. The problem is I am unable to access the printer port to my printer. It is possible that the printer was not properly set-up during the linux installation. Could someone help me out?
Here are the vital stats:
Printer is Epson Stylus Color 440
Port address is 3BCh (According to BIOS and Windows 95)
Port number is LPT1 in Windows.
Computer is IBM Aptiva (M62, Model 2168, Service level 'H') (If this is relevant.)
Linux Kernel version is 2.2.12-20

I'm not certain if I need to recreate the kernel, run a certain program, or simply change some configuration files.

Thanks, DS
