Question Cannot access internet with Mozilla

Hi,

I am at present running Fedora core 4. My problem is that Mozilla absolutely refuses to go on-line. However by using Konqueror I can get into all of my usual websites. If, having connected using Konqueror I switch to Mozilla I lose my Internet connection again.
I assume that because Konqueror connects there is nothing wrong with my router.
I connect to the Internet (BT Broadband)using an Ethernet router (Fedora loads this as OK) which works all right with WinXP (I have two h/d caddy's).
My set up is as follows,
ECS mainboard with onboard LAN and sound (both enabled)
Duron 2Gig CPU
20 Gig Maxtor H/D
512 Megs RAM
I can go on-line with Mozilla by using d1al-up but this to me rather makes a mockery of having Broadband.

Unfortunately if I start Linux with the KDE desktop, I cannot get my CD player to handshake with my OB sound although both of the two items work seperately.

make sure moz settings are for direct internet connect, and NOT proxy.

also make sure your connection button, at the lower right hand corner of the screen is set to connected (or in: File: Work Off Line) box is unchecked.

as far as your sound prob, both kde and gnome (and the other window managers) usually use different sound systems to play music.

make sure arts or automatic is set in your settings for kde... there is a button to test sound there also.

good luck.

Hi Halvy,

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I've been there and done that already. From other sources this problem is not uncommon with Broadband in the UK. Other Gnome distros act the same. I think I'll have to try another Distro.

Thanks,

Alan Heasman.

ortry another browser that is basically moz-- it is called: kazehakase.

it has some quirks.. but also some new and interesting features that we have not seen yet in other browers.

however it may very well be 'too much' like moz in that it may have the same problems.

good luck either way.
