Can someone recommend a good video editing program?

I'm really not sure why this is so hard to find. The only half decent one I've found is kdenlive but it still has lot of weird quirks, like sometimes it just refuses to listen to key frames ex pan/zoom effect. You start it at 100% zoom and want to gradually zoom in... so you set the keyframes, yet it just goes to whatever percentage you set, for the whole thing, completely ignoring keyframes. Lot of other weird stuff like that. All the tool tips have white text on yellow which is unreadable, and tons of other issues. It also lacks very basic stuff like alpha. You can sorta do it, but it's a huge ordeal and it only works with two layers.

Is there something better out there? Looking for something that would maybe compare to Adobe Premiere or something.

Blender is a 3D modeling program. That's one I want to learn at some point too though but it has an entirely different purpose. I played with it but it has quite a steep learning curve.

I'll try the others mentioned in that link though.

sorry for the last suggestions, Handbrake is very good tool for professionals on Linux for resizing and converting videos, it also helps in editing videos but not so as like Adobe Premiere.

I use OpenShot from the ppa
Code:
add-apt-repository ppa:openshot.developers/ppa
for non-linear video editing. I still prefer the older openshot 1.4.3 version rather than the newer openshot-qt 2.1. Just remember to save frequently as it is prone to crashing after a while.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I did not get a chance but I will try them at some point. I don't do video editing often but it's nice to have a reliable program when I do need to edit something.
