Can someone explain the dd_rescue status screen to me [screenshot attatached]

I am trying to decipher the dd_resuce/dd_rhelp display screen.

1) What is the difference between '|' and '.'

2) What is the "Biggest unparsed chunk"

3) What is the "left to parse"

4) In the example display the biggest unparsed chunk is about 1.8 mb yet what is left to parse is about 81 mb?

5) How can I stop an restart dd_rhelp from where it last left off.

This thing has been running for days now.

"Biggest unparsed chunk" as in amount of sectors "left to parse" I think. How it parses (skipping over obstacles and returning to those at the end of the process to speed up making the backup) is explained in the README (which is also the content of http://vaab.free.fr/utilities/dd_rhelp/index.en.html). Wrt stopping and starting: just stop it, then just start it like you did before. It depends on the logs dd_rescue creates so if they're there then the operation will just continue.
