can see a fan with lm_sensors but not control it

Hey guys,

I can see a fan from "sensors" output, but I can't figure out how to control it:

Code:
monster uguru # sensors
w83627hf-isa-0290
Adapter: ISA adapter
VCore 1: +1.46 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +0.00 V) ALARM
VCore 2: +2.83 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +0.00 V) ALARM
+3.3V: +3.15 V (min = +3.14 V, max = +3.47 V)
+5V: +5.03 V (min = +4.76 V, max = +5.24 V)
+12V: +11.98 V (min = +10.82 V, max = +13.19 V)
-12V: -7.67 V (min = -13.18 V, max = -10.80 V) ALARM
-5V: -2.89 V (min = -5.25 V, max = -4.75 V) ALARM
V5SB: +5.51 V (min = +4.76 V, max = +5.24 V) ALARM
VBat: +3.31 V (min = +2.40 V, max = +3.60 V)
fan1: 1081 RPM (min = 332 RPM, div = 16)
fan2: 0 RPM (min = 332 RPM, div = 16) ALARM
fan3: 1023 RPM (min = 332 RPM, div = 16) ALARM
temp1: +32 C (high = +88 C, hyst = -89 C) sensor = thermistor
temp2: +53.0 C (high = +70 C, hyst = +65 C) sensor = diode
temp3: +47.5 C (high = +70 C, hyst = +65 C) sensor = thermistor
vid: +0.000 V (VRM Version 9.0)
alarms:
beep_enable:
          Sound alarm enabled
It's fan3 ... when i do "pwmconfig", it stops and starts my CPU fan and northbridge fan and configures them as pwm1 and pwm2 respectively. However pwmconfig does not find fan3 at all.

fan1 is the CPU fan, fan2 I have no clue what it is, fan3 is my fan I want to control somehow... my northbridge fan doesn't seem to be listed.

I'd greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks!
George

lets see if i can remember
to turn it on you just echo a value (presumably 0) i think is most on to the proc page for the fan
like
echo -n 0 >/proc/acpi/fan/FAN3/state

look at the proc directory and play with it i think the state can be 1,2 ,or 3
3 is off 0 is on
