can pan newsreader work on suse 8.1, if so please shed some light.

pan comes in redhat 8.0 and works right off the bat on gnome.
its not included on suse 8.1 and when i try to install it
(after downloading from site) im told that im missing glib_3 and a bunch of other libget. help me i like suse 8.1
it comes with mpeg123, video support, java on konqueror.
i dont want to go back to redhat i just dont have the time
and windows is out of the question.
