Can only run GnuCash as root?

I recently installed GnuCash on my rh9 machine but was firstly only able to install it as root and now it is only possible to run GnuCash as root? Surely there should be an obvious way to run this as another user?

I have already changed ownership of all the gnucash files to the appropriate user but got some error message about no access to /tmp/orbit-username. It turned out that this directory was full of links with incorrect user permissions which I changed and all is working fine now.
