Can Not Install!!!!
For the past week i have tried and tried again to install mandrake ..firstt was 9.0, but my friend burnt the iso wrong so i did not get to install it, and than i decided to get 9.1, and buned the iso images and everything, and now when i boot it actually works and the installation screen comes up, i choose the option to standard install my pressing enter, but it just reastarts my comp agaiN!!
Any ideas what could be wrong in this scenario?? I have a P3 550 mhz 256mb ram\ I have windows 2000 running on it right now, and want to install linux with a partition of 10 gigs...out of the 40 that i have, Also...i herd you can partiton during the installation, is this right?? Is it difficult, any tips?? Any help wuld be appreciated, as you can see i am in desperate mode right now...bottom desperation break down! Zohra |
I pressed f1 for other options and tried pressing linux to boot with "normal resolution" that did not work...i than choose expert installation since i would want to partition...etc...and that still didnt work...says boot failed..
I do not what the heck is going on...any suggestions whatsoever? |
Okay now what idid was inserted cd 2 and rebooted to see what happens and this black screen came up asking some questions of proceeding, and asked me for a location od SCSI driver...i just pressed cdrom and pressed enter...since i really do not know where it is located...anyway than it said the correct installation cd was not booted so i reenter the cd 1 and finally it says that i have a something called a kernal bug...and than it said
error in exec of stage2 the fatal error is FATAL ERROR stage1 I/O error I can not recover you may reboot now! ------------------------------------ ANY CLUES WOULD BE APPRECIATED>....if this is a kernal prob where can i get the solution..and please remeber i do not have a floppy is there an other way...can someone help out step by step pleaseeeeeeee??? thank you all for being so helpful! i think this is major bad luck! |
