AFAIK it is Mac os image format.

According to The File Extension Source the DMG file format is a "Macintosh OS X Disk Copy Disk Image File".

I know this thread is old but can Linux use .dmg files. I mean that was his original question. Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance,
Slappy
