Question Can k3b work with DVD+RW. . .if so, how?

I have MEPIS 3.43 using KDE 3.43. I have k3b 12.10. How do I write / rewrite to a DVD+RW? I have looked on k3b. . .it has "format" DVD but that is not what I need (besides, it would not let me do it anyway). There is an option for write / rewrite CD-R. . .but obviously that does not apply to me.

A simple question, yes. . .but I have looked on the k3b website, MEPIS forums, etc. . .with no luck.

Any thoughts? Ideas? I back up my data on DVD+RW frequently, so this is important to me.

Thanks!

Someone please clarify: DVD+RW issues

Regarding the reply to my 1st post, I went to the suggested website under the section about "blanking" DVDs and entered the followings command to erase my DVD+RW:

dvd+rw-format -blank=full /dev/dvd

This is what happened:

Yautja1978@1[~]$ su
Password:
root@1[Yautja1978]# dvd+rw-format -blank=full /dev/dvd
* DVD±RW/-RAM format utility by <appro@fy.chalmers.se>, version 4.10.
* 4.7GB DVD+RW media detected.
- illegal command-line option for this media.
- you have the option to re-run dvd+rw-format with:
-lead-out to elicit lead-out relocation for better
DVD-ROM compatibility, data is not affected;
-force to enforce new format (not recommended)
and wipe the data.
root@1[Yautja1978]#

My questions that I seek clarification on are:
1) What does all of that stuff mean? Did I do something wrong?
2) I want to ERASE, not FORMAT, my DVD+RW. . .which one will that command do for me?
3) Does anyone know if it is possible to use k3b with DVD+RW? I have looked at the k3b website and other forums with no luck.

FYI: I am using MEPIS 3.43. KDE 3.43. k3b 12.10.

I look forward to your replies! Thanks!
