Can I use OpenLDAP as a directory server for Windows?

I've been trying to convince my friend to use open source software and one of the things I suggested was using openLDAP as a directory server for Windows machines so anytime he works for a company rather he can set up a directory server for them without the cost of a Windows Server license. I was wondering though can you use OpenLDAP as a directory server for Windows? When Red Hat releases Netscape's Directory Server will that be able to be used as a domain server for Windows?

well that's *exactly* what openldap is for.... so yes... you'll really need to read the real documentation for implementing it for real though, it's not trivial really.
