Can I remove a program without removing other packages?
Hi all,
I am currently using Synaptic. My hard disk is full, and I would like to remove tons of programs. HOWEVER, most of the programs that I choose for Removal in Synaptic seem to "depend" on many other important software such as GConf or Redhat-Printers etc., which I do NOT wish to delete. I was going to reinstall my full distribution when I thought, "Hey, isn't Linux supposed to have minimal reboots and reinstalls etc.? Mabbe the guys at Linuxquestions know how to solve my problems!" So, is there any way I can simply uninstall my unwanted applications WITHOUT removing any critical software? You know, like the Windows Add/Remove Programs feature, in which you can simply uninstall programs and even if they are linked to a particular shared library, you can still choose to "keep" the libraries for future use... Hope someone can help!! Thanks!!! Regards, Rykel Singapore |
